Now accepting applications for exhibitions in the LaLande + Doyle Exhibition Space

ARTicipate Grants aim to spark artistic activity at the Shenkman Arts Centre by supporting creative projects of all disciplines through grants awarded to local artists and arts organizations to create and/or present their work at the Centre.

This year, ARTicipate has been tailored to better suit the needs of artists by announcing 3 application streams:

  • LaLande + Doyle Exhibition Space
  • Events and Performances
  • Creation and Development

Beginning February 25th, visual artists may apply to our LaLande + Doyle Exhibition Space stream to exhibit their works. Applicants can request up to $2500 to support their exhibition.

Successful grant applicants will exhibit their work in the LaLande + Doyle Exhibition Space during the following times:

  • May 2 – May 30
  • May 30 – June 27
  • September 19 – October 17

Artists looking to explore and develop work may be interested in our Creation and Development stream, and artists interested in hosting festivals, concerts, and events can apply to our Events and Performances stream.  These latter streams will be available in Spring of 2022.

The program will prioritize projects from artists and arts groups who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, Métis, Black, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQ+, newcomers, immigrants, refugees, Older Adults, People with Disabilities, Francophones, and Rural Residents applying to the program.

Grant recipients can also participate in Learning Labs.  These sessions will convene all ARTicipate Project Grant recipients to connect and discuss strategies and solutions related to project delivery.

For ongoing information about these new Project Grants, please visit us on social media or on the ARTicipate website for more details.
