1. How will the Endowment Fund be distributed?

·Who will decide who gets a grant? 

An advisory committee will be formed to review all grant applications.  This committee will be made up of representatives from the ARTicipate Management, the Shenkman Arts Centre Partners and the community.

 

·When will the first grants be awarded and for how much? 

The first grants are expected to be awarded in the fall of 2010.

Grants will be of various amounts, with a maximum grant of $2,000 to ensure as many artists and arts organizations as possible can benefit from the Endowment Fund.

 

2. What kind of activities can be funded?  

Funding is awarded for the independent production of new artistic work that will be presented or exhibited in the Shenkman Arts Centre.

 

3. What percentage of grants will go to the art partners and what percentage to community arts groups and individuals?    

o   10 % of the funds will go to each of the five Shenkman Arts Partners

o   25 % of the funds will go to the arts community

o   5% will be allocated to fund growth

o   20% is required for fund management

 

4. Does the existence of the Endowment Fund mean there will be a reduction on the city’s arts program grants? Can my organization receive money from both?

The ARTicipate Endowment Fund is a separate source of private funds and will not affect the city’s arts funding program. The city will respond independently to applications it receives for arts and culture funding.
